A Barrage of Accessories from the Frontlines of Fashion

Vintage clothing and accessories have always been quite popular among certain fashionista crowds, but it’s definitely been building steam over the past few years. Perhaps it’s what the vintage piece conveys – which is a story behind each novelty product. Military vintage has become of great interest to me as of late, perhaps it’s an awakening reminder of the unrest that is happening around the world, a statement that there is chaos and war amid seemingly peaceful times. In response, its a poignant piece that people can carry around with them throught these trying times.

Maybe your are just following the crowd! Does anyone ever comment? Seems rare. Hipsters in disguise as eco fabulous trend setters. Either way all that seems to be promoted is buy buy buy.

  2. Hipsterhater- check out the Ask Chicky Section- that info is not about buying anything! Just good info. But you make a good point, I too would like to see more about recycling/making your own/reusing.

And just for the record- have you seen our pics? Not an ironic 80′s outfit in the bunch. So we can’t possibly be hipsters!

  3. Hipsterhater, I think the reason there haven’t been many comments here yet is because the site is very new. Your criticism on consumerism is well taken, and realize that this argument is one of the bigger ones in the entire environmental movement: balancing the reduce/reuse/recycle mantra with getting stuff new.

In my experience, the reverse criticism is far, far more prevalent in our society: that environmentalists want to ruin everyone’s fun by insisting that everyone put on hair shirts, eat less of what they want, buy less of what they want, do less of what they want, and eventually end up “naked in the woods.” It is to address this overarching reaction, and to keep people employed and the economy going, that green businesses have arisen. Not only can people still live comfortable lives, with a multitude of great products, but they can help make the world a cleaner, better place at the same time.

Simply telling everyone to stop buying crap hasn’t worked all too well in history, so green businesses are trying to rewrite the rules and get as many people as possible under the tent.

  5. I think history itself proves that man is the one who “make” or “break” the planet Earth. No one else to blame, because people is the one who reside and manage this planet.Concerning Eco-fashion technology, using renewable energy, organic foods, etc.,if all this stuff would help planet Earth from it’s global warming problem, well then people need to support it…Isn’t it? I do support Eco-fashion industry…Excellent blog! Go Green…
