A friend of mine is near the sight (not protesting, just living) and she says dozens police helicopters have been hovering non-stop for the last two days and boats are creating a border in the sea north of the meeting. I’d love to see how the numbers from those high-pollution machines stack up, too.
June 7th, 2007 at 4:28 amI have been and lived in other countries and I have seen the way others live.. I have to say that a lot more people walk and use their bikes in Europe and Asia… and the size of their cars are much smaller if they do use automobiles. I think we Americans as general depend on our cars way too much.. and I see so many mammoth sized SUV’s… this seems to be a symbol of prosperity in this consumer based society. I can not understand how people who see the news everyday and see how it’s effecting our environment continue to drive and purchase them.. advertisers need to stop putting ads where they glamourize everything including these gas guzzlers.
