Elephant Poo Poo Paper!

In my mind this company definitely takes sustainability to the next level! The Great Elephant Poo Poo Paper Company Limited

is focused today on the production, innovation and marketing of all sorts of fun products made from elephant poo!

Visitors can visit the company’s “poo-tique” to buy all sorts of paper gift items made from elephant poo that’s been collected from elephant conservation parks. Their paper making process is fascinating, and produces products that actually don’t smell like poo at all. Plus,

We can make about 25 large sheets of paper from a single piece (or turd) of elephant poo poo!!! That translates into about 10 standard sized journals including the front and back covers! Neat, huh!?!?!?

Great Elephant Poo Poo also has a great mission:

Our purpose is to successfully sell our goods in order to complete a truly creative sustainable cycle: where raw materials with little other use are utilized to make a useful and functional product all the while providing jobs and opportunity along the way and ultimately selling our goods at a profit from which a portion is directed to a worthwhile cause: elephant welfare and conservation.

This is truly great! I bet they have some problems with marketing, considering the source, heh heh. There are just so many different potential sources for making paper, from ag waste to old money, blue jeans, banana peels, etc. that there’s little reason not to phase out the use of trees and save more forests.

By the way, your new site design is absolutely gorgeous and I like the new features of it. Who’s your killer web designer?

Now, if we could get them to make toilet paper out of elephant pooh! That would be the ultimate in reCYCLING.
Seriously, I’d love to get some of this. What a great project.

Love this product! I wonder how they plan on distributing their products to those who wish to purchase it?

    Brilliant idea.

But I suppose what I would truly love to see, is “us” getting to a point where the means to making great new product is not as much of a discussions point as the quality of the product itself. This will only come at a time where recycling and living “cradle to cradle” is the standard, not the exception.

When we look at other stationary, or any product for that matter, we look at the aesthetics, the functionality, or simply how it improves the process of our life. The day where great stationary (that happens to be recycled from poo or otherwise) is simply great stationary, or organic make-up is simply great make-up, will be a really really good day…and hopefully one I will see in my lifetime.

There is plenty of human poo out there and it is such a shame to flush it out to sea and kill off the oceans great eco system.
Have not figured out how to make paper yet might have to visit the elephant poo paper factory.
Also reading a book called Paper Trails Mandy Haggith. About the enormous quanty of paper we use everyday.
