UPDATE: And the winner is – Tara!
Tara said,
I will use the Kleen Kanteen to keep water in at all times for my daughter who absolutely “needs” water at any given moment. We are currently using glass jars for water (instead of plastic) and I put one of her socks over the bottom to avoid slipping. It is pretty darn funny (and sad).
The “not a paper cup” I will use for coffee of course. I will also use it to completely freak my husband out, because I will pretend it is paper and will not budge on it until he thinks he is losing it. Hey, after 10 years of marriage we have found new ways to amuse each other.
Thanks Tara, we’ll be contacting you so we can get you your prizes. And thanks to everyone else who participated!

I am an elementary school teacher, and staying hydrated is always an issue. Sometimes the only chance I get for a beverage is my coffee on the way to school! I’d love to have a great safe water bottle to keep in my classroom, or a reusable coffee mug for the staff room. Way to reduce! Thanks.

Oh my gosh, I love Klean Kanteens! I take one to the gym all the time, but I’d love to have an extra to take to the office. I’m the only one at my office whom I noticed uses a reusable coffee mug and my company still has STYROFOAM cups *shudder* because paper ones “leave rings on the desks.” People always comment on my coffee mug and water bottle and new ones are great conversation starters (and maybe a reminder to bring their own?).

I’m looking to demonstrate to my coworkers that a reusable water bottle is far better than using paper cups and i’m doing this through practicing what i preach. to that end, i’m collecting and passing out reusable containers as i come across them. I’d LOVE to pass around a kleen kanteen or two or ‘i’m not a paper cup’ or two! (my small pink one is my favorite and gets the most use out of all my reusable containers!) (and i’ve never had an ‘i’m not a paper cup’ cup, but it looks fabulous too!

I travel for my job and am always faced with the dilemma of staying hydrated in the airport and on the plane. You can’t bring drinks with you through security and although you can (usually) bring empty plastic water bottles to fill up at the water fountains, I don’t like to do that because recycling can be an issue. There aren’t always recycling bins so readily available at all airports and destinations. And, if the bottle gets crushed I’m left with having to purchase a new one for the next flight. Then the whole ugly cycle starts all over again.
The Klean Kanteen would come in handy because I could throw it in my bag when it’s empty and never have to worry about finding a place to recycle it or it getting crushed by the items in my bag or suitcase! Not to mention I could keep refilling it through out my travels!
The same applies for the I’m Not A Paper Cup. I HATE using plastic cups on a plane (it’s so wasteful & they don’t recycle them!), so this would be a great way to have my coffee or tea in flight without feeling guilty. I can rinse it out when I land, throw it in my bag and then I’m ready for my next hot beverage when the need strikes! In addition it would also come in handy in the car. Keep it in there and any time you stop at a coffee shop you can use it and save a paper cup!
12/05/08 » 2:22 pm »
I could totally use a Kleen Canteen for toting water to the gym, or a mug for sipping on tea throughout my work day!
12/05/08 » 3:05 pm »
I would love to have a Klean Kanteen since I’m preparing to go on my first real camping trip soo – gotta keep the footprint low out on the trail! And that coffee mug would certainly get daily use on the way to work – what a great idea!

How would I use a Klean Kanteen and I’m Not a Paper Cup?
Well, I’m a little girl in a big city. When I’m out walking to the nearest public transportation, or just walking in general, I like to have something to cool me off or warm me up without spending money and creating more waste. I can’t think of anything more perfect to tote on my way to and from work. And maybe on special days, I’ll ask the local coffee shop to fill up my Not a Paper Cup with an Amaretto Chai Tea Latte.
And…I’ll probably hug ‘em and squeeze ‘em and name ‘em George.
12/05/08 » 3:12 pm »
I drink approximately 3 cups of coffee a day and drink around 6 cups of water. I would love to have an eco-friendly alternative since its not an option at work right now. Anything that I can easily change to help the environment I’m all for!
12/05/08 » 3:18 pm »
I’d given the Not a Paper Cup to my father. He has a hot drink every day at his local coffee shop and would appreciate the environmentally friendly option. I’d save the KK to use as a gift for my next friend who expresses an interest in being “green.”
12/05/08 » 3:44 pm »
We are always on the go between parks, playdates and errands and need at least one water bottle to get us through the day. Keeping myself and my 3 boys hydrated is a big issue, especially in the summers of Texas. A pretty new water bottle would really brighten up their day.
I would use the Not Paper Cup when I make my husband’s coffee or tea to take to work. He uses a battered, ancient plastic travel mug now that I’m starting to get concerned about. He needs a great new travel cup for his warm pre-work refreshments.
12/05/08 » 6:27 pm »
I actually got one KK bottle but I wouldn’t mind to get a second one.
I am lazy to pour water to drink at times. Having a KK bottle around actually makes me drink more water. Been trying to avoid using plastic bottle and so the more reusable bottle the better!
12/05/08 » 7:33 pm »
I would use both when I go to Washington DC next semester to intern! I am going to be totally broke (unpaid internships will do that to you) and plan to make my own coffee and carry my own water rather than buy (and throw away MORE trash) everyday!
12/05/08 » 7:37 pm »
I am on the go constantly with my work and would love to have a Kleen Kanteen to have with me for my coffee or water. I am trying hard to be as “green” as possible and this would be another chalk mark for me!

I’m looking for great eco-friendly products to gift this holiday season to family and friends. These are two of my favorite products and know they would be well recieved by my sister (who is a teacher and uses her water bottle dailly) and my best friend who frequents take-out coffee!
12/05/08 » 9:41 pm »
I’m normally a tea drinker so this would be perfect for me when I go out. I usually bring a glass jar, but this would be more practical, lighter and safer.
12/05/08 » 10:08 pm »
this would be perfect for my toddler (klean kanteen) and husband!
12/05/08 » 11:13 pm »
I think that with the kleen kanteen it will encourage me to drink more water!!
12/06/08 » 3:25 am »
I would use the canteen and ‘not a paper cup’ while volunteering during tax season helping lower income clients at various library sites. Some sites are very friendly to volunteers letting us use their kitchen areas while others you only have what you bring to get you thru the day.
12/06/08 » 7:46 am »
I would give them as Christmas gifts to my aunt and uncle whom I am having a tough time getting to understand the importance about making better choices for the environment. I have started to “sneek” eco-friendlier choices into their lives via gifts, which they are also resistant to stopping due to tradition.

I am almost always a lurker and not a commenter on the blogs I read, but I had to take the chance to respond to this. I’ve been looking into getting something like a Klean Kanteen for my son; the problem is that we are on a very tight budget. My son loves carrying water around with him – he usually adds a large dollop of lemon as well – but I am absolutely horrified by the fact that the only portable containers we have are plastic. (What’s worse is that they are not even designed for reuse at all; I am talking “recycled” pop bottles from trips long ago.) I worry about the amount of Biosphenol A he is absorbing. I would rest so much easier and be so happy to give him his own, safer drink container.
He probably could not use the I Am Not A Paper Cup as much or as well as a bottle with a lid, but as it’s double-walled, I’m wondering if it would hold heat a little better than my tea mugs. I’m interested in experimenting with it.
12/06/08 » 9:58 am »
I would use the “Not a paper cup” for my daily caffeine fix on the way into work. Right now I use a plastic travel mug, but have been looking for an alternative to plastic in everything I use. I would give the Kleen Kanteen to my boyfriend, who uses an old Nalgene bottle for work. I switched over to a Sigg when the controversy surrounding my old Nalgene bottle came out, and I would love to give him the same option.
12/06/08 » 10:56 am »
I have 5 KK bottles at home right now…we love them. We have one more person in the house who is still using *gasp* plastic bottles! I haven’t yet seen the to-go-cup until now and I’m in LOVE with it. I would love one for myself, plus I would give 2 to the in-laws who seem to need a little push in the right direction
Even if they only used them when I was around
I’m so glad to have stumbled across your blog!
12/06/08 » 1:52 pm »
I would give the KK to my friend who told me she has no idea what non-plastic water bottles/containers are. She is always drinking from plastic.
I would give the “I’m Not a Paper Cup” to my coworker who is always showing up to work with cardboard coffee cups.
I own a Sigg, a KK and two stainless steel coffee containers myself
Nice blog. Found it by happenstance.
12/06/08 » 4:43 pm »
I would replace the plastic bottle (which I’m suspicious of leaching plastic into the water) and the the KK everywhere I go! I’m always drinking water so it would definitely be handy
I would gift the I’m not a Plastic Cup to a coffee alcoholic friend of mine who’s always dropping by Starbucks and The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf to use the cup instead of disposable ones all the time.
12/06/08 » 6:19 pm »
The not-a-paper-cup would be great for my tea obsession and would be perfect for my nearly hour long drive to to student teaching! The water bottle would be a great gift to my less than eco-friendly friends who are similarly on the run!

Hey! Like minds…
The I’m not a cup made the MadSilence gift guide.
I would, of course, use the I’m not… at the cafe for my daily cuppa…
Now here’s a unique idea. Use the insulated cup to hold the Japanese cold remedy “tamago-zake.” Active ingredient: rice wine!

Always a pleasure to visit eco chick.
All the best for the holidays.

As a grad student with a partner who races bicycles, I’d love to have both of those products on me every day. It’s hard to read philosophy all day without a cup of tea in hand, and the not-a-paper cup would let me take that tea to the classes I teach without worry of spilling or polluting. Because we cycle a lot, staying hydrating is important for both my partner and I. The klean kanteen would follow me to school, to races, and in all of my travels to keep me hydrated and healthy.
Thanks, and take care.
Lisa

i know that working in the film biz we use alot of coffee cups and water bottles.
i would love to have them because it would cut down my waste by alot!
12/07/08 » 3:49 pm »
Work as a waitress and can’t stand the taste of the water at work, I also don’t like to drink out of the plastic bouncer mugs we have, taste like soap (have some medical problems and something about either the water or the mugs makes my stomach hurt. I always bring my own filtered water in a re-used plastic water bottle, but would rather drink out of something that may not leach harmful chemicals into my water. And running around all day, I tend to get very thirsty and due to the medical problems, the worse I feel, the more water I tend to drink.
I also bring coffee home from work, to help keep me energized enough to cook dinner for 7. Would rather drink out of porcelain that plastic.
So, either of these products would be great for work. Thanks.

Everyone in our house has a Klean Kanteen and LOVES them… except Hubby! He has put one on his Christmas list.
I’m addicted to coffee (and who isn’t these days?!?!) I’d get much use out of the not a paper cup coffee cup. Or, maybe I would pass it on to a teacher in need at our school… I detest watching all of them carry in throw away coffee cups.
Cheers!
Jamie

I would give either to my boyfriend for his birthday, who still uses his plastic bottle for water. Whatever goes into it is totally poisoned by the next day! It would be great because neither of us can really afford to buy an alternative container such as kleen canteen, this this would be our first venture into the eco-friendly world!
12/08/08 » 11:26 am »
I would give the water bottle to my mom for christmas because she wants to use more green products and i am low on cash for gifts because i am paying for school.
i would give the “i am not a paper cup” to my little sister because she is really big on being trendy and i am trying to teach her about being green and less wasteful. i think that this is one of the coolest ways to be green and get people to notice and do it to.
12/08/08 » 11:38 am »
I would use the mug at the office and the kanteen when I go to meetings… its perfect for all the travelling I do!
12/08/08 » 2:22 pm »
My toddler has two Kleen Kateens and I SIGG. My 9 year old son has 1 SIGG as does my 13 year old daughter. Mom on the other hand has a “green” mug purchased from my son’s school fundraiser and it leaks. I would selfishly use both these for myself so I won’t have to swipe drinks from my children anymore.
12/08/08 » 3:15 pm »
I’d use the clean green cups and bottles as Xmas gifts. Also, I’d like to replace the plastic bottle on my bicycle with a toxic free new one.
Allbest,
Ken “KB”

I’d replace the plastic bottle on my elliptical with the KK and give the I am not a paper cup to my mom, who stops for coffee almost every day!
12/09/08 » 7:38 am »
The Kleen Kanteen would be perfect for when I bike the kids to school. It is a 6 miles round trip. The I’m not a paper cup would be perfect for my husband cocoa in the morning at work. I have been trying to get him to find a more eco-option. This would help him learn that eco can be cool.

Im a breasfeeding mama who needs lots of aqua im also trying to lose weight & stay healthy so why not be green as well!
12/10/08 » 10:14 am »
I would give my MIL the cup because she loves her coffee & the KK to my wife who is trying to be as green as possible while raising our 5 sons! (money just isn’t there to buy things)
12/10/08 » 10:31 am »
I am a college student in San Antonio. I would use the cup on my morning run to the coffee shop because I want to make other students aware that there are other alternatives to the paper cups we mindlessly throw away everyday. I love the way it looks, I think that my friends would love it. I think it would be a great conversation piece, I could make other students aware of alternative green products. The Klean Kanteen would be a great item to take when I go to the gym, it would be great to show an alternative to the plastic bottle.
12/11/08 » 1:21 am »
I’d give the “I am not a paper cup” to my husband so he take his coffee with him in the morning. I’d use the Kleen Kanteen to replace my heavy glass water container. That way I could also put hot drinks in it. Thanks for the chance to win!
12/11/08 » 11:49 am »
What a great giveaway! The I’m Not a Paper Cup would definitely go to my husband, who drinks hot herbal tea by the gallon but doesn’t like using the little tea or coffee cups. The Klean Kanteen would accompany us on hiking trips so that we, and our hiker doggies, can stay hydrated.
12/12/08 » 8:23 am »
Thanks for such a great giveaway and discount! I would use the paper cup endlessly on my travels to show everyone you can be environmentally friendly every where you go. (I live and teach in Denmark and I travel for work and to visit home.) I find the best way to educate people is to show by doing. When I bring my own cup or reusable containers to places, inevitably someone asks me about it. These conversations lead to better understanding. I try to live my life with leading by example. The Klean Kanteen I would give to my significant other. He has been lusting after them ever since I bought one to replace my Nalgene bottle. He is adamant about the environment too and feels the KK is the best option. It was going to be my present to him to replace his Nalgene. We have been unable to find them in Denmark so I was planning to get it when I returned home for the holidays. Then, I can use that money to purchase a Light Cap 200 to re-use our Nalgene bottles as a light in our home.

BOTH of these items are on my COVET list (things I really really want, but I’m the “mom” and in charge of the budget, so my wants are always the last to be met if there is every anything left over). Being a SAHM of three small children, “if it isn’t on sale, it isn’t an option”. Unfortunately, KK and I’m Not a PaperCup are NEVER “on sale”. I have hours of web searches under my belt to prove it. I’m a caffeine ADDICT (who isn’t with three small ones!!) and reuse a freebie PLASTIC car mug for my daily brew(s) when I’m on the run, which is daily at this point. For water, I just can’t stand that stale “plasticy” taste of my reusable bottles if water is more than an hour old, so I’m a glass by the sink gal at home and forced to find public fountains when I’m out and about. Needless to say…I don’t drink enough water at all. What a great combination give away! I know all my local coffee shops as well as Starbucks have a “bring your own cup” policy/discount…any chance a coffee gift card is included as well? true decadence…I’m not sure I could handle that much good stuff at once.
12/13/08 » 9:25 pm »
I’ve been going greener this year and a big problem has been my cat. He thinks every single drink glass in the house is his to stick his paw in and tip over. I have had kidney stones in the past, so I’m trying to stay more hydrated but it’s hard when every 15 minutes I’m cleaning up a puddle!
The Klean Kanteen would be perfect for me to keep drinking AND not waste water on my floor.
The I’m Not a Paper Cup would be great for my dad – who is an avid Starbucks guy!
12/14/08 » 9:37 am »
Especially in the winter, leaving the house to go… well, anywhere! results in me being parched. I would love to have a Kleen Kanteen to carry water around with me so I can stop using the plastic bottle I have. And the I’m Not a Paper Cup is so adorable; I know sometimes I cave in and get the paper cups at coffee shops because it feels more like a treat that way, but with a durable version? Yeah, I would totally be able to just make my coffee at home and still feel like I was being indulgent!
12/14/08 » 9:52 am »
I could make my own little difference with one of these. Instead of buying foam and paper cups, I could use this to reduce my personal cup usage by at least 300 cups a year. If I live to be 80, this would be a total of 13,500. Wow! I shall share this with my eco-students to gain more awareness about the world.
12/14/08 » 10:03 am »
I am a grad student, studying at the library for up to five hours at a time, and coffee is essential! I would LOVE to try “I’m not a paper cup” for my coffee & have fresh, distilled water from home in a Klean Kanteen. I’ve been coveting the former, especially, since I saw it in a coffee shop about a week ago.
12/14/08 » 10:32 am »
These are the perfect items to help the environment. Kleen Kateen while hiking and i’m not a a paper cup filled with morning coffee and brought right into the car! No waste.

You don’t know how ridiculously happy this makes me, do you know how much Kleen Kanteens cost???
