I don’t jog, but I love going barefoot. It’s the healthiest thing you can do for your feet. I avoided shoes for my daughter for as long as possible when she was learning to walk, and even when we got her shoes, we stuck to light moccasins to give her feet as much freedom as possible. The little leather strawberries on the tops were cute, too

Hi Starre….great article. I inspire people to live healthy by walking and have been interested in people walking barefoot. I love to walk barefoot inside my home and am beginning to branch out in walking barefoot outside. I’m a diabetic and have to protect my feet from cuts and bruises so the barefoot shoes you are teaching us about may be the answer for me and other diabetics. I’m going to try them. Thank you for your research and review.

I agree with this as I too feel my feet have become strange to me when I now try to clamber over the rocks like a goat when I was a small girl … however, what is the solution concerning snakes in the outback (Oz) … HAVE to wear BOOTS!!! Also, what are your thoughts on Birkenstock … and that system of footwear based on the Masai? Cheers and thanks for the GREAT article!!!!

My prob with most eco shoes/clothing is the cost. You can say all you want about the impact on the environment etc., but realistically even the “affordable” eco lines are too expensive for my family of five.
Side note: I put forth an effort to be aware of my and my families impact on the environment and it’s people.
