I’m in love – with nail polish. A few years ago, I all but gave up on the idea of ever having a nice-looking manicure again after swearing off conventional polishes full of toxic ingredients and experimenting unsuccessfully with the few ‘natural’ nail polish brands on the market.
Then, I found out about Priti NYC, a boutique brand created by Kim D’Amato. Priti polishes contain no toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) or petroleum ingredients and are safe for children and mothers-to-be.
I was dazzled by the range of colors available on Priti’s website – unusual for a boutique line – and even more impressed when I saw the shades in person. What looks like a dull brown in the bottle is a luscious chocolately red when painted on the nail (Widow Iris) and shimmery shades contain tiny flecks of unexpected color that reveal themselves in the light.
Priti’s acetone-free, petroleum-free, 100% biodegradable soy polish remover works remarkably well without the headache-inducing chemical odors that nail polish removers are renowned for. I tried it on Priti’s own nail polish and on some Sally Hansen ‘Hard as Nails’ polish, with great results on both – and best of all, this polish remover actually moisturizes and smells like coconut and lemongrass.
The chip resistance, opacity, selection and nuances in color put this polish on par with that of high-end brands like Dior and Chanel – without the carcinogens. What more could you ask for out of a polish?
Get it at Spirit Beauty Lounge.

Great revelation! I am so glad to see more and more nail polish companies detoxifying their polishes. Priti sounds like a great brand and I love that they have so many colors! I also love Sinful Colors (another brand that is toulene, formaldehyde and DBP free) and the best part about Sinful is that you can get it at Walgreens for $1.99 a bottle!

Also love the polish remover mention….I hate nasty toxic remover! I will definitely try Priti’s!

I agree with the nail polish remover 100% because I just hate the smell!
However, I am looking at my drug store nail polish that was $2 and I see that it is DBP, Toulene, and Formaldehyde free. I wanted to know what other toxic ingredients I should look out for in a nail polish that may be in my drug store nail polish.
