Unless you’re going totally cheesy with some ridiculous recycled Ugly Christmas sweaters, it’s hard to get holiday party clothing right. It seems like everything that’s considered “festive” is glittery and sparkly and….totally inappropriate for the freshly-scrubbed New Year that’s right around the corner.
Buying clothes that only get one or two uses is wasteful, expensive and just plain silly. I’ve dug up some eco fashion lovelies that have something party-fun-festive-yay about them, but will still remain stylish and wearable into next year (and the next too).
This beautiful Ivana Helsinki blouse would look perfect with a black mini, chunky lucite necklace, and giant heels, but could also be dressed down with black slacks and flats for a work-appropriate look.
A beautiful black ahimsa silk dress from Amour Vert is a classy and infinitely wearable piece that will never go out of style. Wear it now with shimmery tights and sexy, tall boots and a fabulous scarf; wear it of a summer’s evening with sandals an updo and dangly earrings. (Free shipping at Eco Closet right now!)
Allison Parris‘ cute tulle skirts are made from recycled PET netting in NYC’s garment district. If you’re looking for something purely fun for the holidays, this skirt totally fits the bill (and will make a great party – arty layer year-round). Available for right now at Fashioning Change, the skirt comes in a variety of colors.
Feral Childe’s Book End Dress in this glorious, Christmassy red is work- and family-appropriate, and screams that the wearer has some serious style, not to mention confidence. What’s better than red in the darkest hours of the season? Nothing. Made from cupro in NYC; available at Kaight.
