My Non-Toxic Makeup Looks: Natural Beauty for New York Fashion Week

FashionWeekMakeup2 As most people who know me well can attest, I don’t wear makeup every day. I work pretty hard at keeping my skin looking good (mostly by eating well and getting lots of sleep and secondarily by using only superpure and natural cleansers and oils), so I don’t really want or need to add anything. It helps that I have naturally strong features of course!

But fashion week is….fashion week. Going totally barefaced seemed a little disrespectful in some way to all those hard-working make-up artists (some of whom I know!). So I decided to break out of my no-makeup shell and try two different natural beauty looks. They are still somewhat minimal (hey, that’s the kind of lady I am!) but I felt really good about them, like I was true to myself and also had a little fun. I’ve detailed all the lovely products I used, in case you are interested!

FashionWeekMakeup3 Heading out to the Costello Tagliapietra show, which was at 3pm, I finger-curled my hair into loose waves, and wore:

Eyes: Origins GinZing mascara in Black Zosimos Botanicals Eyeliner in Cornflower (to lift some dark circles I had going on from being up too late the night before, I used Sircuit’s amazing White Out)

Face: Revolution Organics Freedom Glow Beauty Balm in Sunkissed on cheeks; Origins Brighter by Nature Powder

Lips: Jane Iredale Just-Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain

Scent: My own mix of Sweet Orange (2 parts) and Sandalwood (1 part) 100% Pure Essential Oils from Aura Cacia fashionweekmakeup5 For a totally different look for the launch party of the Textile Arts Center’s shop opening party later that night, I pulled my hair up into a topknot, and washed my face.

Eyes: ZuZu Luxe Liquid Eyeliner in Black Pearl ; Mineral Fusion Lengthening Mascara in Graphite

Face: Origins Brighter by Nature Powder

Lips: Origins Flower Fusion lipstick in Poppy

Scent: LURK bs003

In case you are wondering who gave me that awesome blonde chunk in my hair, it was the amazing Jane Webb at Grace Heaven Organic Salon in the East Village.
