These days, you hear the word “classic” thrown around quite a bit. But when it comes to fashion, what does it really mean? One answer is definitely Eileen Fisher’s Classic Collar Shirt in Tencel Cotton Denim, which the brand sent to me to style up as I do (see below for details).
Now, before I review anything, I really put it through its paces—in this case I wore the shirt quite a few times, to see how it wore, I washed it several times, including drying it outside on the line (my preferred method) and in the dryer. I’m happy to report that the shirt, a month later, still looks new, even though I’ve rolled up the sleeves, tied it at the waist (see below) and worn it on a couple flights! I can happily recommend it as a versatile staple that works with a multitude of looks.
My Eileen Fisher Classic Collar Shirt paired with a Gudrun Sjoden cape, Camper boots, extra-thick Falke tights and a second-hand skirt (originally H&M).
Above, you can see I tied the button-down shirt up at the top of my waist, as I ran around the Quinault Rainforest in the Olympic peninsula of Washington State. In addition to the styling you see here, I also wore it as a swimsuit cover-up on the beach in Mexico.
Since this shirt is made from a blend of eco-friendly Tencel and cotton, it holds it shape beautifully, and has a lovely silky feel. I love the metal buttons, which add a touch of something a little different— it reminds you, when you’re wearing it, of real denim details, like those found on jeans.
