- Though it may hurt her credibility, Olivia Zaleski has never hugged a tree. In fact, she can’t remember the last time she even climbed a tree. Living in New York City, Olivia finds trees hard to come by and prefers the relative ease and splinter-free safety of playground jungle gyms and municipally maintained monkey bars.
Urban backdrop aside, Olivia cares deeply for our planet’s plight. As Eco-Chick’s Managing Editor, she aims to expose and promote “greener options.” Her ultimate goal: to inspire responsible choices.
In addition to Eco-Chick, Olivia writes for green-living authority Treehugger.com and Hearst Magazines’ TheDailyGreen.com Her weekly syndicated column Enviro-Mental: Going Green without Going Crazy is one of the most popular blogs on the Huffington Post, repeatedly breaking over 80,000 unique page views.

Infanticide and Vera’s Cub: Why Some Mothers Eat Their Young
Post copied from Living Now section of the Huffington Post.
I want this baby polar bear! Well, on second thought, I want this baby polar bear for just a few weeks–before it gets teeth. In a year, that cub will look at me and say, “Hmmm, I bet you’d make a good meal!”
Carnivorous predator or not, [...]
7 Sexiest Green Stars of 2007
The results are in!
Well, not really. This list is based on my humble blogger opinion. Use the comment section to claim which celebs float your green boat. With enough feedback, I hope to compile a list based on “popular,” not personal, opinion.

Green Gifts: The Top 5 Regifting Don’ts
It’s the day after Christmas. Aside from feeling fat and hungover, you’re probably wondering how you’ll get rid of all the terrible gifts you’ve collected–the gizmo you’ll never use, the book you’ll never read, the sweater you wouldn’t be caught dead wearing. Rather than toss that hideous scarf or Ricky Martin album in the trash, [...]

Flushie Gets Wet This Summer
Few things are as beautifully refreshing as a summer swim. Clear, cool water, the lull of chirping birds, and the bubbling of fecal matter. According to the EPA, sewage overflows deposit nearly 860 billion gallons of sewage in America’s local waterways annually.
A Right to Know for Clean Waters is a campaign to tell Congress [...]
An American Corporation in China
Deadly pet food, poisonous toothpaste, carcinogenic shrimp, and toxic Thomas the Tank Engine toys aren’t the only dangerous exports coming out of China. According to the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, a trusted source amongst academics and UN environmental envoys, The People’s Republic of China is now the largest producer of greenhouse gases. As China continues [...]
A Festivus for the Rest of Us
Several days ago, on a small area of farmland in Tennessee, 80,000 gathered for the Bonnaroo Music Festival. The four-day celebration featured live music, shops, massage parlors, food marts, restaurants, crafts booths, and a “living quarter” all within a mini city created just for “the Roo.” “Mini city?” Sounds like the perfect chance for [...]
