A Coat Check—For Your Bike!
![]()
As a new Berkeley resident, I’m slowly discovering all the cool things the town has to offer. Just recently I came across Bikestation, a “non-profit organization that seeks to improve the quality of life in urban communities through the development and operation of bike-transit centers and related infrastructure.”
Modeled after European and Japanese examples, Bikestations offer bike services to the community to promote bicycle riding as a clean transportation option. Some of the services include: free attended bicycle-parking, bicyle repairs, bike-sharing, bicycle rentals, and 24-hour bicycle parking depending on the station. Membership is free at most stations, although some charge a minimal fee of $20 a year for all of these great benefits.
Currently there are Bikestations in Berkeley (CA), Embarcadero (CA), Long Beach (CA), Palo Alto (CA), and Seatlle (WA) with plans to open others in Washington DC and Santa Barbara (CA).
Pour some SUGAR on me.
You can taste the salt of the sea in the hot, thick air of Mexico. Combine that with pulsing music, a dash of dance floor, a handfull of a hot-bottomed hunk and you got yourself one sensually sweet time. In Mexico last month, I danced like I never danced before with my lust-worthy albeit unsuspecting lovaaaarrr. ”Where did you get those moves?” he said panting (referring to my dog-in-heat-meets-Beyonce’s-big-bottom moves), “You must go out dancing all the time!”
“On the contrary,” I said. ”I’ve only enjoyed dancing in two situations: 1. with my voluptuosly 6’0″ tall ex-model friend (no guys dare bother us) and 2. alone…at…home…in front of a mirror. C’mon girls, I can’t be the only
Gawd I love that song. Though I can count the “little miss innocent” age on one hand when Def Leppard’s famous song rocked the pop charts, it gives no indication 4 hands later how that song makes me feel behind closed doors.“mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love; Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up…”
What’s my favorite “sweet dream, saccharine” tongue-tingling confectionary delight? S-U-G-A-R. Mom always told me my sweet tooth would get me into trouble….funny, I don’t think this is what she meant. And girls, sometimes moms just don’t know what they are talking about. Trouble, is sometimes, just the best damn place to be.
Summer Rayne’s Sweet Recipe for OOOOOOO-SoMUCHTrouble:
1/2 cup of organic, fair trade sugar (available through Traidcraft). PERFECT CHOICE for those who want to do good while doing the nasty.
Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me” (looped twice). This will stir up some trouble.
Mix with Man, Woman, Dog, all three, or otherwise (depends on what you are into). Treehuggers preferred (they are the most carnal and enjoyable to be around).
Dance seductively until you break a salty sweat and you feel butterflies in your stomach (this should happen simultaneously)
Then recite the phrase:
” You got the peaches, I got the cream
Sweet to taste, saccharine
‘Cos I’m hot, say what, sticky sweet
From my head, my head, to my feet
Do you take sugar? one lump or two? (I take two)
Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up
Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me”
Guaranteed to make you shake uncontrollably.

I had a fabulous time at the first ICI NYC party last Wednesday, Jan. 25th at Libation. Everyone from the Manhattan green scene was there, from magazine editors and publishers to designers, stand-up comedians with a green schtick, models and PR flacks. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves immensely, and it was fantastic to see that eco-conscious green lifestyle products (and thinking) are hot and getting hotter. This was definitely not a sandals and patchouli crowd:

There was free Organic Vintners wine, organic Orange V vodka, and Green and Black’s chocolates.
