Thanks, Steve
Where do you begin remembering a man whose brilliance shaped our world and whose vision and sacrifice has made each of our lives better, and easier? Most of us didn’t “know” Steve personally, but we each have a connection in some way to the products he created. We enjoy them, they’re useful, they’re reliable, and they’re easy on the eyes. Steve didn’t just create things, he created an experience for us. And I believe that’s why so many of us feel as though we just lost a dear friend.
President Obama said it well, “There may be no greater tribute to Steve’s success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented.” I did. And as I type on a beautiful machine that is a Mac, I can’t help but feel that a man so genius, with such foresight, envisioned the world carrying on without him here, but with him and his products for the rest of our lives.
We here at Eco Chick just want to say thanks, Steve. We promise to continue to follow our curiosity and intuition, to be original, to trust our gut, to work hard, and to love what we do here.
As he told the Stanford Class of 2005 in a now-famous commencement speech:
“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something: your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”
