Best Natural and Organic Oils for Gorgeously Healthy Winter Skin (and Hair)
I’ve written before about my love for skin and hair oils, and that’s because they work better than any other treatments I have tried. I have moderately dry skin, and in all seasons I go nuts for delicious-smelling, ultramoisturizing (and always all-natural and organic if possible) oils, for everything from cleansing to moisturizing to serums and for strengthening my hair. Being a fashion and beauty blogger means I get to try a LOT of samples; here are my favorites from the past year.
Cleansing Oil: Wash your face with oil? Definitely; stripping skin of oil causes it to produce more oil, so using one to cleanse means your facial skin never gets dried out while getting clean. Tatcha’s One Step Camillia Facial Cleansing Oil is superlight and removes makeup just as well as a lathery soap – sans skin stress.
I also love: High-quality organic virgin coconut oil from a fair-trade company like Dr. Bronner’s.
Best Facial Serum: REN’s Rose O12 Moisture Defence Serum smells incredible, glides on like a daily treat, and visibly plumps up my skin.
I also love: Blissoma’s Restore Deep Healing Oil Serum
Best Facial Oil: La Bella Figuera’s Tesoro Mediterranean Blend is argan oil-based, but also contains wild-crafted neroli and chamomile flower oils (which contribute to it smelling like a summer’s day). Anointing my face with this oil at night during the coldest and darkest times of the year not only reminds me that the flowers will come again, but means I wake up with super-moisturized, very happy skin.
I also love: John Masters Pomegranate Facial Nourishing Oil
Best Body Oil: For me it’s a tie between Jane’s Flower Oil (handcrafted by Grace Heaven Salon owner Jane Webb), and Terra Dolce’s Tuscan Sunrise Body Oil, a mix of jojoba, soybean and avocado oils with a super-pow dose of (natural) lemony fragrance (which not only doubles as a lovely perfume, and mixes well with other scents, but also reminds me of relaxing in the sun with lemonade).
I also love: Ren’s Moroccan Rose Otto Ultra-Moisture Body Oil
Best Hair Oil: Saaf Organic Enriching Hair Oil smells like I imagine a Bond Heroine might: sweet, dusky and definitely sexy. The light oil is great for scalps, but I like to run a layer of it (warmed between my palms) to fight frizzies when I travel or to keep straightened hair tidy.
I also love: Dr. Hauschka’s Neem Hair Oil
