Vegan Eco Fashion Label Vaute Couture NYFW Fall/Winter 2013 Show
Designer Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart (featured as one of our Heroines for the Planet!) has been making covetable, ultra-warm vegan coats for a few years now, so it was so exciting to see her launch a full line for Fall/Winter at fashion week. The first all-vegan show at NYFW, Vaute Couture‘s fabrics are also eco-friendly and low-impact, including organic velvet, organic moleskin, 100% recycled closed-loop zero-waste satin, printed organic cotton shirting, organic cotton sherpa, organic cotton fleece, waxed canvas made in upstate New York, bamboo jersey, washi paper knits, a metallic vegan leather made from recycled fibers and knits made with organic cotton fiber.
And everything was made in NYC’s garment district (save for the knit hats, which were made by Eleanor DuFault in Maine.)
Partners included The Humane Society of the US, Farm Sanctuary, PETA and PCRM. And pooches, who walked the runway, were available for adoption through Badass Brooklyn Rescue.
