Healthy Holiday Breakout Solutions

Breakouts aren’t only for teenagers. This time of year is taxing on everyone’s skin. Stress, lack of sleep, or diet — caused by the end of year work load, final exams, last-minute shopping, picking from one too many celebratory spreads and cookie trays, or the in-laws coming to town — can really do a number on our complexions.

After trying a wide range of products, Eco-Chick’s editors have found several go-to healthy cleansers, scrubs, serums and even oils that we can count on. Herewith, a few of our favorite healthy holiday breakout solutions:

1. Improve your complexion with Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub for fresh, clear skin. This product will gently scrub away impurities and dull, dead skin cells that can build up in pores. Naturally derived ingredients include coconut, castor oil, willow bark and jojoba oil. Find in stores including Target, Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, Kroger and Walmart.

2. For a deep cleanse that doesn’t dry out your face, try Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser. It contains natural salicylic acid found in Willowbark bionutrients to penetrate deep into pores to detoxify and help remove dirt, oil and makeup, while rinsing clean without pore-clogging residue. Find in stores including Target, Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, Kroger and Walmart.

3. After cleansing while your skin is still damp, massage a nickel-size drop of Marie Veronique Organics’ Treatment Oil —yes, oil—on your face. This oil will penetrate clogged pores and break up congested matter at the source. The oils include tea tree, borage, sea buckhorn, carrot and argan. Find at their on-line store.

4. Looking to get through a day shine-free? Swap a moisturizer for REN’s ClearCalm 3 Total Clarity Daily Fluid. This product prevents oil overflow, minimizes pores, and calms and soothes skin. Bio extracts include Japanese konjac root, licorice extract, and calcium carbonate. Find at their on-line store or in Sephora stores across U.S.
