At Home Spa Treats and Tricks: From an Eco Chick Reader (and An Editor)

Ed Note: I got the email below from an Eco-Chick fan (it’s edited for length). I love to hear from our readers and followed up asking her for her own recommendations. The lovely Cindy made the product suggestions below for an at home spa, and then I added one of my own at the end! We’d LOVE to hear about your natural spa faves (DIY or products) in the comments!

I have been a long time fan of your beauty blog. The makeup and skincare items that you feature have introduced me to so many new beauty brands. Because of your blog, I was able to find good products that are much more suited for my skin and skin care goals.

A couple years ago, I found out that a lot of chemicals in beauty products are harmful to the skin. So, as a result, I have turned to more natural products. Also, I have this phase now where I am really into spa products. Going to the spa can sometimes be very costly, so I got my own swim spa in my house. I love the idea of putting fruits and natural clays on my own skin instead of artificial colours and scents. It just feels so good and my skin looks so much healthier.

The results I get from using the spa products at home are comparable to going to the actual spa. And plus, it is cheaper. I just know it feels so nice to give yourself a spa treatment after a long, busy, and tiring day. Plus, it saves money and its all natural.

WeledaCleansing Milk
A natural and gentle cleanser that suits all skin types. I like the fact that it isn’t too harsh and that it doesn’t dry my skin out.

I just love the smell and feel of this product and it is free from any harsh chemicals. It feels nice on the skin and it helps remove the dead skin cells.
Yula
I love this all-natural product because the activated charcoal helps cleanse and detoxify the face. The product feels so gentle on my skin and it is easy to take off. Plus, you can customize it to suit your skin type. Since my skin is oily, I usually add a few drops of tea tree oil.

Ed: I also love at-home spa products! I have finally moved to a house with a great big tub and so I am doing weekly baths (above!), which I missed for years! Here’s my bath recipe:
-Two tablespoons organic coconut oil (the same I use for cooking and baking)
-5 drops Bergamot essential oil (I like Aura Cacia)
-3 drops Chamomile essential oil
-generous tablespoon lavender flowers (I found mine at my local co-op)
-3 tablespoons dried rose petals (also from the co-op)
Throw all the ingredients in while you draw the bathwater, and soak for 20 minutes!
