New York Fashion Week Greenshows: Vaute Couture F/W 2010
This beautiful ecofriendly dress coat just screams romantic Winter walks through the snow, and the feminine collar makes it flattering to any face.
It’s not as easy to find eco outerwear that’s not rough-and-ready for snowboarding, snowshoeing or other sporty endeavours. While I love my Patagonia softshell for mountain-time activities, when I’m in New York City or around town I like to wear something a bit more feminine and traditional, coat-wise.
Enter Vaute Couture (an ‘activist fashion label’), which makes beautifully feminine toppers from recycled polyester fleece with deadstock or tagua nut buttons. Lined in 100% recycled ripstop satin and weather- and water resistant and heat-retaining, these are coats meant for serious winter temps, comparable to a similar peacoat made from wool and conventional satin materials.
Vaute’s second collection includes a ‘puffer coat’ and an urban short sporty coat both made from alternative Primaloft Eco fabrics, as well as fun accessories made from all-natural fabrics.
