Get Inspired with Sweatshop-Free, Sustainable Spring 2014 Eco Fashion

I know we are all SO ready for spring this year! And it’s officially April 🙂 (I can hear everyone out there breathing a sigh of relief; FINALLY!). Looking for fresh inspiration for this season—and beyond—I put together some of my fave finds from some of my most beloved eco fashion designers. Enjoy!

[In case you are wondering, the above is my own springiest outfit ever; those are my Lina Rennell Animal Dot-print silk pants that were made in Northern California; a Dolan silk blouse that’s made in Los Angeles; vintage belt and bag; and Cydwoq shoes.]

Feral Childe gets more awesome every season; their spring looks are Made in NYC (as are all their clothes) and I especially love this  linen/tencel Day Coat, which such a cool spring/summer look that you could easily wear into fall, layered over a blouse and under a sweater-jacket.

I’m not the only one feeling a bit obsessed with Feral Childe’s new hemp/organic cotton Mars Rover print (shown here in the Kepler pant), and I love it even more paired with the Eclipse tee (organic cotton and silk, the print is taken from a real painting: Love that!).

This made-in-Germany silk blouse by Hui Hui is one of those pieces that I would reach for again and again. Unique, but understated, and quite beautiful.

Inspired by nature and Scandanavian traditions, Gudrun Sjoden’s spring, 2014 collections are bursting with delicious color and pattern; their canvas shoes are Fairtrade certified and made in Pakistan; $1.80 from each pair goes directly back into the village for education and health care.

I don’t know about you, but I’m very, very excited that overalls are making a comeback. These organic cotton ones from Gudrun Sjoden have a drawstring waist, so you can add a little definition to the one-piece (a must for curvier ladies like myself).

I find that a great vest ends up doing a lot of work in the spring; as long as your core is warm, you are good to go, and vests are ideal for keeping you warmer while still giving your arms a break from layering (which always makes me feel more free and easy!). This one in organic cotton Body Armor vest from Prairie Underground will wear for years; I’m still wearing the first hoodie I bought from the company almost 5 years ago.

This Isabell de Hillerin silk petal skirt is just perfect. It is “Made in Berlin and all embroidery is done in Moldova to support the local community and the dying artisanal trade.”

Kaight’s collection of refashioned dresses made from vintage materials are ever-so-lovely. This one in ivory with black polka dots is just perfect for spring—so fresh and so clean!
